Зато Роддику в Майами 450 защищать, а ДельПо всего 40, так что весьма вероятна обратная перестановка. А вообще у Цонги очень хорошая позиция для атаки - ему до US Open (!) защищать всего 150 очков (аналогичную сумму за Касабланку я не считаю, т.к. она уже не входит в 4 лучших турнира).

ага, у Цонги отличная позиция, так что надо дерзать, вот только на грунте много набрать наверно не получится.
Что касается Роди, я всё-таки думаю, что все его успехи носят временный характер. Но возможно и ошибаюсь.

10,000 appeals later: replay, challenges routine in tennis

KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. — Jamea Jackson perhaps won't fill many pages in the annals of tennis history, but in one regard the U.S. player who's 260th in the world ranking will always be first: She opened the instant-replay era with an unsuccessful challenge.
"I remember a lot of the players being a bit confused and wary of the new procedures, and when I made that first challenge, I wasn't really sure what to expect," Jackson, who is recovering from hip surgery, wrote in an e-mail. "It's funny because I don't think I have gotten one challenge right yet, but even when you are wrong, it helps give you a little peace of mind."

Three years after its debut here at the Sony Ericsson Open on March 23, 2006 (Jackson's opponent then, Ashley Harkleroad made the first successful challenge), electronic line calling has been absorbed into the game.

The U.S. Open became the first Grand Slam event to use Hawk-eye technology later that summer. The Australian Open and Wimbledon followed in 2007. (Clay leaves marks, thus rendering it unnecessary at the French Open).

Though some players, such as Roger Federer, have consistently disapproved, none has rejected it outright. All use it, and most are content to have it as a backup.

One of those is Serena Williams, who was on the receiving end of a controversial umpire's overrule in a loss to Jennifer Capriati at the 2004 U.S. Open — an event often cited as the catalyzing moment for instant replay.

"I'm really happy it's here," said No. 1 Williams, who plays unseeded Li Na of China in the quarterfinals. "Sometimes you can get some line calls that could possibly be 3 feet wide that are called in. Like the line call I got a few years ago."

Fans, of course, love it.

"It's fun for the crowd," said Svetlana Kuznetsova after advancing to the semifinals Tuesday against Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), 6-1. "I think it's a great thing."

Overall, the men have a success rate of 35% in the 6,279 challenges conducted through last week's tournament at Indian Wells, Calif., according to the ATP Tour. The women are only slightly better at 36%, but they challenge about half as often with a total of 3,693 attempts.

Novak Djokovic is the ATP's resident eagle eye. The third-ranked Serb has overturned incorrect calls 55% of the time, the only player with at least 50 challenges who is correct more than half the time. At the other end of the spectrum among top players is Andy Murray of Scotland, who is wrong 75% of the time.

"It's not that I have the eye of the falcon or something," Djokovic said modestly after beating Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic 6-3, 6-2 Tuesday to move into the quarterfinals. But he conceded, "I think I've been quite successful with that."

Rafael Nadal, with who has a mediocre 36% success rate, says he sometimes challenges simply to ease his nerves. "(To) relax a little bit," the No. 1 Spaniard says.

But he also intimated that he distrusts the system, which uses computer simulations based on 10 video cameras to reconstruct the ball's trajectory. The result is then broadcast on widescreen TVs on court for players and fans to see.

"I think the machine is not exactly OK," Nadal said.

Some argue the Hawk-Eye system causes umpires to abdicate their responsibility to overrule, instead relying on players to take matters into their own hands.

"The umpires and line judges are not maybe as sharp as they used to be because they have Hawk-Eye most weeks now," said No. 4 Murray, who crushed Victor Troicki of Serbia 6-1, 6-0.

For the most part, players have gone with the flow as replay has become integrated, much like the 6-all tiebreak when it was introduced in the early 1970s.

"I prefer to have Hawk-eye," said Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France, who beat compatriot Gilles Simon and faces Djokovic in the last eight. "It's nice, because now justice is served."

"I think it allows players to accept line calls fully and move on to the next point," Jackson said. "I think most players on the tour like having the challenge system now and I think fans like it even more."

The No. 2 position in the South African Airways ATP Rankings has been occupied by Roger Federer or Rafael Nadal for every week since July 25, 2005.

But that may soon be changing with No. 3 Novak Djokovic and No. 4 Andy Murray in pursuit. In fact, Djokovic has been one match win away three times since May 2008 of becoming No. 2, only to lose the opportunity.

After ATP World Tour No. 1 Rafael Nadal began his clay court campaign with a record fifth consecutive title at the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters and strengthened his lead at the top, the battle for No. 2 going into Roland Garros is underway.

Murray, who has held No. 4 for 32 consecutive weeks since Sept. 8, 2008, is off to a career-best 29-3 start, and he's closing quickly on Djokovic. The 21-year-old Serb has ranked No. 3 every week since July 9, 2007 except one (Aug. 6, ’07).

With the 2008 Monte-Carlo points dropping off next Monday, Federer will lose 700 points, Djokovic 450 points and Murray 150 points. Murray will narrow the gap to 110 points going into the fourth ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournament in Rome, which begins Apr. 27.

Here is what the trio's point totals will look like in next Monday's South African Airways 2009 ATP Rankings:

Rome was held one week later last year and the 2008 points will drop on May 11 with Djokovic losing 1,000 points for his title, Federer 250 and Murray 70. Here are the minimum point totals (without the '09 Rome points added on May 4 and Belgrade points on May 11):

All that hard work for nothing whe next weeks the points will dropp off Novak have to win each match from now on to ensure he's still 3rd the only positive from this he can look at Rafa who was in the same situation last year and yet maintained his 2d place and gone on to be number1

Ну ATP-шники жгут... Оказывается, Монте-Карло, несмотря что тысячник, считается за турнир серии 500 См. например Рафу и Новака. С этим рейтингом предстоит ещё не одно любопытное открытие, я так чувствую

Мб монте-карло идет в засчет турниров 500 , если теннисист сыграл все остальные турниры 1000? Т.е. , например, если Рафа пропустит Мадрид, то потеряет очки за прошлогодний Гамбург , Монте-карло 2009 у него тогда пойдет в зачет турниров 1000 (так как станет восьмым сыгранным из этой сериии за последние 52 недели), и все встанет на свои места.
В общем хотели как лучше, получилось как всегда...

скоттинка на четвертом. причем между вторым, третьим и четвертым разница в очках микроскопическая, а вот Фафа практически в два раза больше имеет

Интересные статсы. И что-то я не пойму, почему у Надаля такой не впечатляющий процент соотношения побед/поражений. Я думала, гораздо выше. Ты уверена, что это его нынешние показатели? Не может же быть, что процент побед у него ниже, чем у Роддика и Хьюитта? И практически на уровне Ферреро.
